VoltyShare: turning private EV chargers into a bookable network
VoltyShare is a mobility platform that lets owners of private chargers and parking spots share them, and lets EV drivers find and book real, available capacity nearby.
The challenge
Public charging infrastructure grows slower than EV sales, while thousands of private wallboxes sit idle most of the day. The capacity exists — it just isn't discoverable or bookable.
A marketplace like this only works if three hard problems are solved at once: trust between strangers, accurate availability, and a payment flow that feels safe for both sides.
What we built
Map-first discovery
Drivers open the app on a map of nearby chargers and parking spots with price, connector type and real availability windows, instead of a directory they have to interpret.
Two-sided onboarding
Hosts publish a spot in a few steps — location, connector, price, schedule — and keep full control over when it is bookable.
Booking as the core object
Everything in the product is modelled around a booking: availability, arrival, session, payment and dispute all hang off one clear state machine.
Native mobile from day one
Charging happens on the move, so iOS and Android apps shipped alongside the web platform rather than after it.
